About the Authors

John Hubley and June Copeman worked together for many years at Leeds Metropolitan University, teaching health promotion to a wide range of health and social care professionals at pre- and post-registration levels, from across the world. This textbook is the culmination of their many years of teaching together, and their recognition of the need for a really accessible book that would help students to integrate health promotion theory with their day-to-day professional practice.

John HubleyJohn Hubley died very suddenly after completing work on this book. As well as being a Principal Lecturer at Leeds Metropolitan University, he was involved with training, consultancy and research activities in more than 25 countries. He worked with a wide variety of organizations in the planning, implementation and evaluation of health promotion projects. Many of the photographs in the book were taken by John, some during his international health promotion work. His previous books include The AIDS Handbook (2005) and Communicating Health (2004). To quote a former student, who later became a colleague on international projects: 'John is remembered for his devotion to health promotion research and for his warmth and wit. He was a man who took everything he did seriously.'
