Posted By Politybooks

Scott Lash is a pioneering sociologist and cultural theorist whose work on technology, globalization and the media has made a major contribution to our understanding of modernity. He started his career at Lancaster University, where he collaborated with John Urry, co-authoring the influential Polity book The End of Organized Capitalism, which examined the rise of ‘disorganized capitalism’ in the West. He went on to write numerous books that developed a highly original approach to culture and information in the digital age, including Critique of Information and Intensive Culture. He is currently Professor of Sociology and Cultural Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London, and his recent work has examined the socio-cultural dynamics of economic change in China. In addition to The End of Organized Capitalism, Polity has published The Global Culture Industry: The Mediation of Things (with Celia Lury).
