Inspection copy feedback questionnaire with a prize draw to win three Polity books
August 2020

  1. The Prize Draw is sponsored by Polity, 65 Bridge Street, Cambridge, CB2 1UR, UK (“Sponsor”).
  2. The Prize Draw (“Prize Draw”) is open only to academics receiving an inspection copy feedback questionnaire from Sponsor via SurveyMonkey in August 2020.
  3. Those who submit an inspection copy feedback questionnaire until 23:59 BST, 31 August 2020, will be automatically entered into the Prize Draw. No additional registration or purchase are necessary, but completion of the inspection copy feedback questionnaire is required in order to be entered into the Prize Draw.
  4. By filling in the questionnaire, each entrant unconditionally agrees to and accepts these Official Rules and the decisions of Sponsor, which are final and binding in all matters related to the Prize Draw.
  5. Multiple entries per person is possible only in cases where a person receives and completes an inspection copy feedback questionnaire for more than one book. A person can fill in only one inspection copy feedback questionnaire per book.
  6. Completed questionnaires must be received online by 23:59 BST, 31 August 2020, to be entered into the Prize Draw. Questionnaires received outside this time period will not be considered.
  7. Proof of submission will not be deemed to be proof of receipt by Sponsor. Sponsor is not responsible for submissions that are lost, late, misdirected, undeliverable, incomplete, invalid, or unintelligible, all of which will be disqualified.
  8. One prize winner will receive a paperback edition of three Polity books of their choice. If a paperback edition is not yet published, a hardback edition will be awarded.
  9. The Prize Drawing will be conducted in accordance with these Official Rules by 14 September 2020. The random drawing will be conducted from amongst all eligible entries received in accordance with these rules by Sponsor, whose decisions as to the administration of the Prize Draw and the selection of potential winners are final and binding.
  10. The potential winner selected must comply with these Official Rules and winning is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements. The potential winner will be notified by email on 14 September 2020 and must respond, accept the prize and confirm their selection of three books within fourteen days of notification by email. If receipt of such email is not confirmed by Sponsor within seven days, the potential winner must contact Sponsor at [email protected] Any winner notification returned as undeliverable or not responded to within fourteen days may result in prize forfeiture and an alternate potential winner will be selected from the remaining eligible entries, and that winner will also have to respond and accept the prize within fourteen days of notification by email. If a potential winner cannot be contacted or the prize is returned as undeliverable, potential winner forfeits prize. In the event that a potential winner is disqualified for any reason, Sponsor will award their prize to an alternate potential winner. Only three alternate potential winners will be selected after which the prize will remain unawarded. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
  11. The prize will be sent to the winner by John Wiley & Sons, who act as distributor of Sponsor, by courier. The winner must provide a postal address and phone number to claim their prize.

  13. Sponsor reserves the right to cancel or modify the Prize Draw if fraud, technical failures or any other factor beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control impairs the integrity of the Prize Draw, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. In such event, Sponsor reserves the right to award the prize at random from among the eligible entries received up to the time of the impairment. Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Prize Draw or to be acting in violation of these rules, or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operation of the Prize Draw is a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Sponsor’s failure to enforce any term of these rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.
  14. By entering this Prize Draw, entrant agrees to release and hold harmless, Sponsor from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the Prize Draw or receipt or use of any prize.
  15. Sponsor shall have no responsibility or liability (including, but not limited to, liability for any property loss, damage, personal injury, or death) in connection with: (i) participation in this questionnaire and Prize Draw; (ii) human error; (iii) technical failures of any kind, including but not limited to the malfunctioning of any computer, cable, network, hardware or software, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, technology outage, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of entries, whether caused by the sender or any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the questionnaire and Prize Draw; (iv) the unavailability or inaccessibility of any transmissions or telephone or Internet service; (v) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process or the questionnaire and Prize Draw; (vi) electronic or human error which may occur in the administration of the questionnaire and Prize Draw or the processing of entries; (vii) acceptance/possession, use/misuse, and/or defects of prize or prize component; or (viii) any injury or damage to persons or property, including but not limited to entrant’s computer, hardware or software, which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrant’s participation in the inspection copy feedback questionnaire and Prize Draw. Entrants further agree to indemnify and hold harmless Sponsor from any and all liability resulting or arising from the questionnaire and Prize Draw, to release all rights to bring any claim, action or proceeding against Sponsor.
  16. The Prize Draw will be governed by English law and entrants to the Prize Draw submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
